In particular, do you remember a song that has the refrain, "Kuala Lumpur... Kuala Lumpur..." There are also a TON of other songs I'm trying to find. Sejahtera Malaysia and Wawasan 2020 are easy enough to locate, but where is everything else? This is our heritage and it needs to be accessible to people who don't work for RTM!

(In other words... any chance of persuading Chong from RTM to find a way to pull up all the archives and post them, or to arrange for an interested Malaysian to organize some sort of hosting for them that isn't reliant on Youtube?)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403017110948354453.post-80492269662092378042007-07-18T18:23:00.000+08:002007-07-18T18:23:00.000+08:00hehehe. The 'IT Song' stood out like a sore thumb in my memory as it caused by school band to lose in the national band competetion to a school that plays the IT song and got bonus points for THAT!!!!

arghhhhhhhhhhhh.betwixtandbetweenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02630532999333550014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403017110948354453.post-68270783983283952762007-07-14T20:39:00.000+08:002007-07-14T20:39:00.000+08:00Thanks for reminding me about the song. While there are other ways to encourage computer use (e.g. one laptop per child, cheaper computers, free broadband internet connectivity), we resorted to a silly song paid with our tax money.

There was one bit I remember from the video clip: when Siti Nurhaliza started singing 'terima IT', the video shown was of one person passing an oversized 5 1/4 floppy disk to another.

Haha! Terima IT!

IT is a diverse subject matter. Though it mostly involves computers as the tool, IT covers areas such as data transmission, information storage and retrieval, system and database design, software engineering and more.

As far as I can remember, the whole idea of the videoclip was to encourage computer use, which is just a small portion of IT as a whole. That song made a serious blunder by associating computer literacy with IT literacy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403017110948354453.post-51825494942284549822007-07-13T12:21:00.000+08:002007-07-13T12:21:00.000+08:00Eh, the deleted part has nothing to do with reform...Eh, the deleted part has nothing to do with reformasi ;-)Amir Muhammadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08144421497045270238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403017110948354453.post-22178261322837904602007-07-12T23:05:00.000+08:002007-07-12T23:05:00.000+08:00I guessed right this time. Gawd, wasn't that so last century? Mana ada reformasi any more? Ironically, demonstrating your point about collective memory being erased - in print and in reality.

I think you got to work on your relationship with your sub. And I don't mean that as a compliment, either.

By sheer coincidence, when the song was first aired, I was in the midst of reading Stephen King's IT. Strange, huh? And what does that mean? Beats me. Just thought of mentioning it.

But maybe it's just that the push for IT back then has blossomed into the monster that it is today... just like the one in SK's IT. Be that as IT may...

And before I start rambling any further, I better stop here. Before IT gets out of hand... :p

p.s. Glad I found this blog, btw - been following the other one and was wondering why the postings had come to almost a grinding halt. Until I found this one, which kinda explains why. It also helps me keep up with your NST articles (which are the highlight of my Thursdays), without having to patronize NaSTy.Walski69https://www.blogger.com/profile/15736212385958836163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5403017110948354453.post-3221357153679177452007-07-12T01:46:00.000+08:002007-07-12T01:46:00.000+08:00Well, I did find this version that was ALMOST comp...Well, I did find this version that was ALMOST complete ;-) It escaped my radar earlier as I had searched, among others, the term "belajar IT" (which I think is correct) instead of "pelajar IT."Amir Muhammadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08144421497045270238noreply@blogger.com
