* For films released in December, the figure includes takings from early 2010 -- i.e. until the end of their run.
* Just to compare and contrast: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen grossed RM27 in Malaysia, and Avatar, which is still showing, has grossed almost as much.
* I saw only 11 out of the 26!

Amir,

What's your thought on the fact that 7 out of 10 top grossing movies are about:

a) black magic, ghost, spirit (2,4,5,9)
b) crappy comedy (6,7,9)
c) racing,bohsia (3)

and only (1) cartoon and (8 & 10) are movies of movie some respect.

looking down the list isn't too encouraging either. sigh.

And what's the deal with all the western sounding actor/actresses..lol... Julia Ziegler

I happen to like some black magic/horror movies, and some crappy comedies, so I must be more low-brow than you ;-) I think "Santau" is the most sociologically interesting film in the top 10 and I plan to write a long essay on it for an upcoming book.

And Julia Ziegler happens to be her real name, so no need to laugh at it :-)

Shalom.

I personally like 1,4,6,11,15,20 and 24.

@Tomatoinc,
there is no right or wrong to your opinions but I think that no.6 isn't a crappy comedy. :') I literally cried watching that at the big screen. So, it's either I'm too sensitive on fatherly issues or maybe I just didn't get the jokes you find crappy much. ;D

Again, it proves it thing: Malaysians should be watching movies and NOT making movies!

malu aku ... aku tonton lebih 40 filem sepanjang 2009, satu filem pun tiada dalam senarai ini. membuatkan aku terfikir sebenarnya, aku langsung tidak menonton sebarang filem tempatan sepanjang 2009!

berapa jumlah filem tempatan yang ditayangkan sepanjang 2009 by the way?
